Dr Veronica McLennan

Dr Veronica McLennan is an established Senior Clinical Psychologist and the Practice Director of The Younger Years. Veronica has worked for over 20 years in Child & Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) both in the North Shore and Illawarra regions. She is passionate about engaging families and using a warm and personable approach in reaching goals of change. Veronica specialises in emotion dysregulation disorders; mood disorders, such as depression and anxiety, behavioural support and issues common to those in the younger years and beyond, such as sleep and eating issues, academic stress, transitions, self -esteem and relationship difficulties.

Veronica’s therapeutic orientations include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS) and Integrated Family Intervention for Child Conduct Problems. Veronica has a strong foundation in attachment based interventions such as Circle of Security (COS) and Attachment Based Family Therapy (ABFT) and she provides family therapy; Maudsley Family Based Therapy (FBT) for Eating Disorders, Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Family Systems Therapy.

Veronica has held clinical and managerial roles in outpatient services at Royal North Shore Hospital & Ryde CYMHS, at Headspace Chatswood and Illawarra CYMHS. More recently she has been working in private practice for the last 8 years.

Veronica completed her studies at the University of Wollongong and has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She is a full member of both the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the APS College of Clinical Psychologists, she holds clinical endorsement from the Psychology Board of Australia and is also a Board approved supervisor.
