Andrew Essen

Andrew is a Clinical Psychologist committed to providing a warm and personable approach in order to foster a safe and collaborative space for all individuals.

Andrew has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults across the lifespan in both public health and private practice settings. He has a particular focus on working with individuals experiencing mood and anxiety-related disorders, with further experience working with trauma and OCD-related difficulties. Andrew endeavours to work with individuals and provide individually tailored treatment to help deliver positive change.

In practice, Andrew primarily utilises Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), with treatment strategies often integrated from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Parent Management Training to provide a personalised approach to therapy. Andrew also has experience implementing trauma-specific treatments including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE).

Andrew previously worked at the Centre for Emotional Health Clinic at Macquarie University, where he was trained in implementing the Cool Kids Anxiety Program to support children and their families in managing anxiety-related difficulties.

Andrew has completed a Master’s in Clinical Psychology at Macquarie University and is a registered Clinical Psychologist.
